Urban Street Furniture for civic interactions

Our focus for this project was the shape of the High Street. We looked at ways we could facilitate small shops on a high street, such as butchers, green grocers, and convenience stores so that they would be able to compete with the modern day supermarket. To do so we felt we needed some way of connecting these smaller shops to a platform on the internet where they could now have an interaction with a customer that has never existed before.
Shop Keepers would be able to keep a catalogue of all their goods and services online for a customer to view. It would offer special features such as the freshness of the food such as fish and where products were sourced from.

Bringing this into a public environment, we started looking at 'forgotten Architectures', which are pieces of architecture or buildings that are no longer useful as a result of the development of our society. One such architecture was the clock tower in Lewisham. Our proposal was to integrate the above platform and display it on a screen for the public to see as they went about their day on the Lewisham High Street. The information would include what goods and services were available from smaller shops including the shopkeeper who was running it, therefore offering a more personal shopping experience. Looking forward we look to bring our idea into an app from and also explore more ways of displaying information in public spaces by making fewer changes and using more of what is already available.

Some of our display ideas are below

We graphically put together the webiste to give a rough idea of how it would look
And here is some sample information of what the screen will display:
